Name: Koji Muraki (Mark)
Occupation: Former salaryman, currently a freelancer
Age: Late 40s
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
I used to be an ordinary company employee in my 40s, until July 2021.
Now, I live in Bangkok and work as a freelancer.
Even though I live abroad, I couldn't speak any English from my student days to my 30s.
However, once I understood just one basic grammar rule, I quickly started to grasp English.
Based on my experience of becoming proficient in English by starting from the basics of grammar again, I share "Restart English" with adults all over Japan through Twitter, blogs, stand.fm, and more.
Background:
Heard about the opportunity for promotion with a TOEIC score of 500 or above.
Started attending English conversation classes after work. First, learned from native teachers.
It was enjoyable but didn't really stick. Tried changing teachers a few times, but it didn't work.
Learned basic English grammar from a Japanese teacher and restarted from the fundamentals.
That's where I learned just one fundamental way of thinking and English started to make sense!
Achievements:
Visited 18 countries, mainly in Southeast Asia.
Resided in Bangkok for 4 years, plus 1 years after leaving my salaryman job.
TOEIC score of 935, Eiken Grade 2, Practical Thai Language Proficiency Test Level 3.
Started operating on Twitter in January 2020. As of June 2023, I have 31,000 followers.
Engaged in online English and Thai language courses, Twitter consulting, and other freelance activities.
